Specimens from the Globule

A collaboration between Rebecca Franks and Alice Baker, Specimens from the Globule grew out of their shared studio. After a year of working side by side at The Globule, their practices (Alice’s grounded in glass and Rebecca’s in jewellery) merged into an experiment in material curiosity.

Molten tin forms extraterrestrial, pitted landscapes. Part mineral, part organism. Aluminium, glass, bolts, and found objects become “jewellery elements,” arranged like specimens for study.

Both precise and playful, the work reflects the pair’s intuitive chemistry: an experiment in how two minds, and two materials, can morph, merge and misbehave.

Displayed in ‘Can it hook?’ a Dutch Design Week 2025 Exhibition where multiple young designers interpret hanging objects.
